DeAngelo Jackson knows very well what it’s like to be Black in the porn world. The first Black man to win Performer of the Year at the 2020 GayVN Awards, Jackson has alluded to some of his frustrations in interviews before, while remaining steadfastly apolitical publicly.
Now fans and the industry have tan opportunity to see something a bit more personal from the performer, who narrates and executive produces new documentary Being Black in Porn, distributed by Mile High Media in association with Novo Novus Productions.
Being Black in Porn follows Jackson, Dillon Diaz, Max Konnor, and Rock Rockafella as they go through their lives and careers, sharing stories of their encounters with racism and stereotypes within the industry. Watch the trailer for the film, out this fall, below:

“I had to share this story,” Jackson said in a statement. “I had to do this for my fellow brothers and sisters in the entire adult industry. I learned early on that if we don’t stand for something, we will fall for anything.”
Jackson, a Noir Male exclusive, famously lost his virginity on camera when he first started in porn in 2009. As he told The Gay Goods earlier this year, there were a lot of different paths he could have taken during his career—luckily he found the right ones.
“Our favorite porn stars have the same struggles as all working professionals,” co-executive producer Dwight Allen O’Neal said. “Our hope is that our documentary creates a better understanding of these men and sends a message to everyone inside and outside of adult film that Black Lives Matter everywhere, in everything, and within every industry.”
