Everybody’s Talking About Jamie—about a teenage who dreams of being a drag queen—will be the first high school musical to reach audiences this year, beating the Dear Evan Hansen movie by a week.
Premiering on Prime Video September 18, the long-delayed film adaptation of the long-running West End hit (and 2011 documentary before that) follows Jamie as he fights off bullies—including a teacher and his own father—and realizes his dreams. (The musical may be one of the few realistic depictions of life in high school, considering that it includes a very bored, malicious teacher in addition to the usual hormone-addled jocks.)
Directed by Jonathan Butterell and written by Tom MacRae, the film stars Max Harwood, Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, with Sharon Horgan and Richard E. Grant. Watch the first full-length trailer below!
