Bear Necessities: Why New Gay Dating App Bears Looking Is Worth Your Time

When Lady Gaga unveiled her Haus Laboratories makeup brand in 2019, her launch campaign motto was, “The last thing the world needs is another beauty brand. But that’s too bad.” That mantra stuck with us (like, really sticky) when we decided to create yet another gay dating app to introduce to the world. Because the last thing the world needs is another gay dating app. But here we are! (And it’s a big butt!)

Two best friends (aka constant cockblocks) were trying to decide what to do during quarantine while living together. We had had enough baking sourdough and vegging out to Netflix on the sofa and were bored af. The first: DJ GlitterPunk, international music sensation, club promoter, model, and party monster (at least in his head) and the second: AJ Stone, world-renowned romance novelist, top (bottom) social media influencer, and super skinny bearlebrity (at least in his head). The idea hit hard, throbbing hard, one day while scrolling through the same grids repeatedly. You know what we mean, you’re doing it now. So we said to ourselves, “Let’s create a gay app, but do it differently. Do it better. Do it us.” Welcome to Bears Looking.

Cum one, cum all
We may both be hairy bearded guys, but you don’t need to be a bear to be here. We want to create a safe space for all members of the LGTBQ+ community regardless of which tribe they identify with: bears, otters, cubs, wolves, chubs, chasers, daddies, twinks, admirers, or lovers of all the above! We also want to create a welcome atmosphere regardless of what members are searching for; we want the emphasis to be on community, events, chat, and finding and creating friends, as well as relationships, dates, and hookups. We are creating a space that is queer, safe, non-toxic, and unashamed.

This isn’t your daddy’s gay app
So what sets us apart? Most apps have lost sight of the values that make us proud to be a part of the gay community. Bears Looking focuses on inclusion, acceptance, body positivity, community, and giving back to those in need. We have all seen our fill of headless torsos!

We plan to have some special features that set us apart from the existing apps on the digital market, including an online forum feed for event meetups, as well as your classic GPS-based profile grid, messaging, and picture swapping. With an easy-to-use interface and cooler colors and designs than what you’ve seen before, you are definitely in for a treat. We’re hip.

You should be leaking with excitement
