When piracy became a game changer in the early aughts, the industries most affected swung into action. Record labels eventually created their own (paid) version of Napster called Spotify, and the film industry underwent a massive marketing campaign—including a much-reviled PSA—pleading with moviegoers to not pirate their work.
A J.Lo-era Ben Affleck asking moviegoers not to steal from him didn’t stop piracy in its tracks, of course—but the industry was concerned enough that it at least attempted a tone-deaf counterargument. What eventually worked was a team effort, one that finds corporations utilizing AI to make sure copyrighted material isn’t suddenly available to stream for free on sites like YouTube.
The porn industry also began collaborating with pirates, but we’ve never really made an effort to tell people why watching one of our releases on XVideos is bad.
“What porn consumers need to know is that by frequenting tube sites, they’re part of a problem that will result in the eventual destruction of our industry.”
But just as in Hollywood, the money spent on porn allows the industry to continue to flourish. Those ads were laughable in many ways, but what response have we had? Why have we never put a human face (or body) on this issue?
I understand that ease usually triumphs (otherwise how could Jeff Bezos have made so many billions of dollars in the pandemic just so he could blow it all on a 10-minute rocket flight), but what porn consumers need to know is that by frequenting tube sites, they’re part of a problem that will result in the eventual destruction of our industry. And that’s not just studio porn—when people illegally upload fan platform content, that’s taking money even more directly from the models who alone are the creators.
Luckily for us, our content kicks ass. As a result, people find and are willing enough to subscribe to our content that we make enough money to survive. And we’ve definitely seen some traction recently regarding piracy. Porn Hub’s announcement that it would remove all unverified channels was a huge blow to piracy (of course, the other tubes still exist, but baby steps!). That’s a good thing, but we could do more.
Then again, who’s willing to speak out against piracy when Men.com and Sean Cody are owned by the same parent company that owns Porn Hub? Standing up isn’t an option for them, and for most people, the bottom line usually trumps the moral thing to do.
But then I think about the hundreds of thousands of our videos being downloaded and watched every single day without us getting paid, without the models getting paid. If the people who watch our videos completely free gave us even $1 for each view, we would be able to do so much more as a company to make and improve our production and content. But we’re limited because stealing is still happening, and the success that we have is capped at the number of people who are willing to buy porn.
As I’m writing this, I’m more and more entranced by the idea of getting our Carnal Boys talking about what affect streaming porn for free has on them. Everyone thinks porn producers are wealthy, but we’re definitely not. How can we be, when people shell out top dollar for organic trade coffee but balk at paying for the thing that arguably gives them more pleasure? (And no, I’m not talking about an Apple+ subscription to watch Ted Lasso.)
“When PornHub has more users than Netflix, we can’t afford to not be in the search results there.”
I’ve built a company on looking at gaps in the industry and asking, “Why not us?” So why shouldn’t Carnal Media start the ball rolling on informing our fans of the human cost of tube sites? Because we never stood up against them before, the industry is currently cornered into collaborating with them. When PornHub has more users than Netflix, we can’t afford to not be in the search results there—especially because if we don’t include our official content, others will just upload it for us, and frequently they will remove our watermark.
I’m not talking about getting off to things that you find on Tumblr or Twitter that are there 10 or 30 seconds long. Though even then, I am devastated every time I see that our watermarks have been cropped out or removed. But what I’m much more concerned about are full-length porn videos. If you’re watching those, you should take a step back and ask yourself, “Am I part of what’s going to make it possible for people in the adult industry to make a living?”
And on that note, have you ever seen the Indonesian version of the anti-piracy commercial? Little known fact: I grew up in Jakarta, so I have a lot of Indonesian friends. One sent me this great video, so you guys can watch and appreciate it.
And once again, thank you to everyone out there who pays for the porn that we make. You make the porn we’re going to make possible.

Thanks again for writing a comment, Mister Legrand Wolf
It speaks volumes that a CEO takes his time to engage with his customers like that.
We certainly appreciate it.
Glad to hear about the upcoming changes.
Without a shred of doubt, once Carnal Media goes weekly updates for every single website and Carnal+ offering all of their scenes for download, there literally won’t be any competition for you guys then.
You already got the quality. Add the quantity then too (which automatically enhances the quality as well) and not to forget the engagement with your fans.
Plus the fact that you keep true to yourself, ideals and goals leaves everyone impressed and glad.
Thank you very much for your efforts!
There’s just one more thing I’d like to ask you about. It’s off-topic and probably sensitive too, not sure if you’re even at liberty to speak about it, but…
There’s one website that stands out from your roster of content: Growlboys
What exactly is that website? It looks very intruiging but something is kinda off with it. Updates barely happen, parts of the website seem broken (text and pictures missing) and the videos look old.
Hi Gilliam! I must have missed this response a few weeks ago. Thank you, and I hear you!
Re updates: Instead of 2 updates a month, when you subscribe to Carnal+ you get an average of 28 updates a month. That’s 14 times as many, and the cost isn’t even twice as much. But you are right, maybe you only want FunSizeBoys and nothing else. In that case once the pandemic is behind us and we can get back to doing production without all the COVID screening and crazy…we are likely to move our update schedule to once a week again.
On the other hand, if you like more than one of our sites, now that we have launched Carnal+ you certainly get a healthy number of updates every month. An average of 7 new updates every week.
As for Masonic Boys, it should say every other week, not weekly. That’s a mistake that I’ll make sure we fix. MasonicBoys is a stand alone site that updates with the same schedule as all our sites during the pandemic, Sorry about that.
And for those reading this who haven’t had a chance to yet, go check it out at Carnalplus.com
Cheers!
YES! That’s indeed good news.
You’ll definitely get a lot more customers with download option for Carnal+
And please don’t forget about the other aspect I’ve mentioned since it’s very important as well: the monthly update numbers
A lot of Carnal Media customers are waiting since day 1 for weekly releases on your websites.
Funsizeboys was the first and only website that did release on a weekly schedule for a couple months. Of course the pandemic situation slowed the process down temporarily, but things should be possible for getting back to normal with updates every week.
Since your websites cater to individual interests it’s only to be expected that customers might only want a membership to just one website. 30 bucks for 4 scenes a month is a very well-balanced norm and we’d love for Carnal Media to utilize it too.
Especially when recently launched Masonicboys falsely advertizes for weekly updates but still only updates every second week.
It just leaves a sad taste, no matter how incredibly awesome the website is.
take (or leave) these opinions from a customer, Mister Legrand Wolf
Ok. Good news. Download on Carnal+ are just around the corner. Getting things out the door on time sometimes requires us to sacrifice things when launching a product. But rest assured, downloads are coming soon!
Oh my god…
It is an honor to hear back from THE Legrand Wolf
Thank you so much
That being said, with peace and love please allow me to respond
When I heard about Carnal+ I honestly thought that it is the ultimate solution for the price/content ratio problem.
But according to gaydemon’s review your network doesn’t offer downloads and being able to download what you pay for is the most important aspect a customer looks for.
I can understand that many potential customers are reluctant to go for a subscription to Carnal+ for as long as it’s exclusively streaming.
Are you guys ever coming back to the original deal of 30 bucks a month for 4 updates ?
Two week long intermissions and 30 bucks for just 2 scenes a month… it is tough
Like I said before,
Customers will definitely come flocking back , and bring along loads of newcomers for sure , when they see they’ll be getting their money’s worth again.
That’s Guaranteed!
I personally have no issue paying for porn that I enjoy. As you mentioned, I believe in supporting the people who put in the work to entertain us. With that in mind, it seems to me that more and more porn content creators are taking the approach of “give us your money but we’re going to shove down your throat what we want you to see”. It seems a lot of creators don’t put in any work into being innovative or to supply content that reaches a wide range of different audiences. Everything is based on “well this is how everyone does it” (ex: this is how everyone films cum shots, this is what everyone wants to see). I don’t know how many times I’ve shared feedback (not necessarily to you) only to ignored or basically politely told to fuck off simply because I’m asked for minor things that appeal to someone like me. But most seem to take the attitude that they know better than the fans what the fans want. So, if I’m going to be forced to watch what someone else likes, I’m not going to pay for it. When and where I find content that I enjoy, I happily pay for it. Sorry for the long bost. Just wanted to share a different perspective on why some of us make our way to tube sites.
Thank you so much for paying for porn! Regarding your comment that customers will come flocking when they see they are getting their money’s worth, how about this:
CARNALPLUS.COM
Instead of 4 updates a month, how about 20+ updates a month? That’s more than 5x as much content.
Instead of paying five times as much as 30 bucks a month, how about 39 bucks a month for an annual subscription? Or 59 bucks a month if you get a month to month subscription?
That is what we are offering on Carnal+ that just launched this month! Again, thank you for being a paying subscriber. And also, definitely go get a membership for CarnalPlus.com if the number of updates for the price is the only thing stopping you!
Cheers!
Honestly no problem with paying for porn. But when the price/content ratio is amiss people just stop buying.
30 bucks a month for 4 updates was how it used to be, opposed to the now 30 bucks for just 2 updates.
Customers will come flocking back when they see they’ll be getting their money’s worth again.
That’s guaranteed !
