Being sent to St. Peter’s was presumably meant to keep Alex Gonz out of trouble. “Doubt and Desire Altar Boy Alex Vol. 1“ suggests his mother may have seriously miscalculated. After hearing stories about what happens between the altar boys and priests, Alex becomes curious about experiencing it for himself.

Temptation wins pretty quickly

What makes this Catholicboys scene fun is Alex’s growing curiosity. He starts out intimidated by what his roommate tells him, but the idea clearly sticks. Soon he’s sitting alone in the meditation room pretending to pray and secretly hoping one of the priests notices him.

His prayers are answered by Father Sargent, played by Max Sargent, a big, hairy older man who makes the age and size contrast immediately obvious.

The religious fantasy does most of the work

Catholicboys knows exactly what fantasy it’s selling here: Forbidden desire, an altar boy with something decidedly less spiritual on his mind, and an imposing priest who appears at precisely the right moment.

Interestingly, the scene also plays with expectations. Alex goes looking for his first time, but Father Sargent doesn’t quite give him everything he was hoping for. That little bit of frustration actually works, it leaves Alex’s initiation unfinished and gives the story somewhere to go next.
