Noah Purvis, who won a legion of new fans with his abrupt ouster from CBS’ Love Island when his past as a performer in gay adult films surfaced, has finally given an interview about the whole scandal.
Choosing TMZ as the outlet to which he broke his public silence (CBS and Love Island initially addressed it in September with a statement to Entertainment Tonight, which tells you everything you need to know about how the two sides to this story are treated by the mainstream press), Purvis awkwardly discusses being told he couldn’t remain on the show. Seated in his car, he shifts uncomfortably, looking from side to side as he says he’d “forgotten” about his Corbin Fisher modeling past until confronted with it by Love Island‘s producers.
Claiming that he was promised the scenes and photos wouldn’t be publicly released, Purvis admits that he did it for the money and in hopes that some producers might see them and hire him for mainstream work.
Interestingly, at no point does Purvis apologize or claim to regret filming the scenes—which would have been unheard of even 15 years ago. Though, of course, Str8UpGayPorn and its troll-in-chief gleefully dissect the interview, holding up for ridicule Purvis’ claims that he “forgot” about it and had been told his scenes would never get out. Never mind that it’s entirely possible Purvis is embarrassed at the hoopla that greeted his very public outing as a gay-for-pay performer in adult films, or that he was trying to minimize leaving something like that out of his initial interviews to be a Love Island contestant out of fear of legal action. Isn’t it lovely, rather, that in the face of finger-wagging and tsk tsking, Purvis didn’t go on an apology tour? After all, unlike casting judgment on others’ choices, starring in gay porn is nothing to be ashamed of.
Especially if you have a body and dick like Purvis’.
